Five of the Most Overrated Games of Recent Times

The Mayor

Before I start in on this and the two people that read this blog get pissed and write a comment I won’t read, I have laid some rules upon which I’ve based my critiques for an overrated game.

  • First off, the game must be highly rated – I’m talking 9.0+ across the board. Sure, one or two sticklers (also known as critical reviewers) could throw up an 8.8 or something every once in awhile, but for the most part these games need to be well received.
  • Second, overrated doesn’t mean highly anticipated – it just means overrated. There is a difference. Assassin’s Creed isn’t on this list – it sucked and once everyone played it, they realized it sucked. Also, overrated doesn’t mean I didn’t like the game; it just means tons of people liked it more than me and are obviously retarded for doing so.
  • Third, I’ve limited my picks to games I’ve actually played. I haven’t beaten them all, but I’ve played the majority of their campaigns and multiplayer options if applicable.

Finally, this list is definitive, conclusive and undeniable. There is no contrary argument. Peace. Continue reading

Rise and Fall of the Sequels

Posted in News with tags , , , , on February 15, 2008 by kingzardoz

There are a lot of 2’s coming out; Rainbow Six Vegas 2, Condemned 2: Bloodshot, Ninja Gaiden 2 (click links for this weeks new video updates). Will they be good? I suppose if you liked the first game the second will be great right? Hell no, look at God Of War 2 (yeah I know it got good reviews, trust me, it was bad). I hate sequels and I just started hating them right now because I realized the probability of a sequel offering something as exciting as the first game is very very low. How do you top the ground breaking shock the first title offered? The only way I see it being possible is if the time between the release of the first and second game is five or more years. Then technology allows for a complete re-imagining of that gaming universe under the new “rules” and standards of that generation. Of course, I will still play all the new sequels coming out but it will be with the right expectations.

I could go on for pages about this but to be honest it would get boring and my Smash Bros Brawl partner left me so my Captain Crunch is a little bitter this morning.
